Counselling & Psychotherapy

Age Matters aims to improve emotional well-being in the second half of the lifespan. We can help with all areas of transition and change including retirement, bereavement and loss, relationship and family problems, redundancy, stress, depression, anxiety, and physical illness

We take a positive approach to dealing with depression and dementia in later life and believe all people who are older are entitled to a full range of therapies. If you are looking for a skilled, compassionate approach offering access to a wide range of highly skilled practitioners please contact us for an appointment. This will give time and space to think in detail with an experienced therapist about your experience and clarify together what may be needed following the consultation. All specialist staff associates have wide experience of working in NHS and social care settings, and we will always advise you what is available within the NHS if the service we provide is not appropriate for you.

Making an Appointment

An initial consultation usually takes place over one or two meetings each lasting an hour to an hour and a half where there will be space and time to think carefully and in depth about your situation and decide on the most helpful way forward.

Some people find the assessment in itself is sufficient. However if you decide that you would like to pursue things further in terms of psychotherapy, we will think carefully with you and help you decide about the most appropriate form of therapy for your particular situation.
